Rip.

Also, I like the fonts used for forum names right now. Not a super huge fan of the color (orange/beige on white), but the font is neat. I feel gay for posting this in this thread but it's the only active one at the moment.

Contrary to Masta, I dislike it merely because of the size. Too big. I fully support the deletion of all those extra forums though.

I don't own any of her albums. Which is rare, because I have a lot of varied music in my collection. And she had a fantastic voice. I think she just made shit songs.

It seems like that argument is brought up every time someone dies. Remember the Amy Winehouse thread? No one was celebrating her death, but some of us felt she had it coming fucking around with drugs.

Just random thoughts that come up whenever a thread about someone passing is made....

Its not that its not sad or whatever, but people need to put it in perspective.
Facebook was ridiculous after she died with people quoting her lyrics left and right...

fyi, dolly parton wrote 'i will always love you'

Rukas, I hear the Bodyguard is quite a terrible film. Clearly you think otherwise?

I grew up with Whitney booming on radio and MTV/VH1 so I do feel her loss. I liked some songs of hers, but I can't say I was a fan.

People treat Facebook like a combination of Twitter and al-Jazeera. They want to be the first to report the news, before any of their friends do, like proper news networks like al-Jazeera, but they don't know shit about the situation, unlike proper news networks. Everyone just wants to be the on that comes to mind when someone they know reflects on Whitney's death and then thinks "oh, Derp was the first to break the news on this person's death. They're so in touch with the world."

It's sad, I feel for her family.

It makes me sick watching the media balance the line between paying respect to her accomplishments while highlighting all her failures and pitfalls. Only a year or so ago the media were ripping into her about the failed Tour she did here and nasty little headlines about it. Now the headline reads: "We Will Always Love You" and it just disgusts me that we (they) can't pay the same respect to her when she's living, and take the opportunity to kick someone when they're down. Just sad.

Journalism is dead.

It's not that journalism is dead, it's that this subject is insignificant.
